If these facilities come to Rome, NY, we will likely implement metered water systems, turning water from a basic utility into a major monthly expense for every family in Oneida County. 📈 Your Electric Bill Could Double or Triple Imagine your monthly energy bill doubling or tripling due to data center buildout in Rome. Massive data centers drain enormous amounts of electricity from the grid. Our families literally can’t afford to see their power bills skyrocket while corporations profit. 🚜 Our Farmers Will Suffer—Just Like Out West Farmers out West have already been forced to drastically limit water for livestock and crops because of drought and resource depletion. If data centers drain Oneida County’s water supply, our regional farmers will face the same impossible choices: feed their animals, grow food for local communities, or go bankrupt. We cannot let this happen. ⚡ Electrical Blackouts Are Already Predicted Pennsylvania utility companies have already warned that electrical blackouts are likely if data centers expand in the region. Rome and Oneida County cannot risk our power grid being strained to the breaking point. Blackouts harm hospitals, businesses, jobs, and families. WE HAVE A CHOICE Oneida County’s future depends on protecting our water, our power, and our farming communities. Tech corporations shouldn’t be allowed to privatize our public resources.
